Home Wind Power

Welcome to the Leamy Electric blog on wind turbines for home use. From the types and mounting to the controls
 and full installations.
Listed below are some of the topics at hand.
There are many choices to make for a wind turbine.
You have come to the right place to point you or others in the right direction. Below you will find pictures of my installs and experiences.          Please get involved

Together with sharing knowledge and investing in Renewable Energy we can overcome the high cost's, dependence on fosill fuels, and the use of foriegn oil.
Going green is not all about the money but a commitment to provide a better future for or children as well as ourselves.
Please do your part, get involved, ask questions, and invest in the products to secure many promissing generations to come. Become the puppet master, not the puppet.

  1. The current wind system i have is (3) windmax wind turbines. In the winter months when to winds are strong my system can provide power to reduce my electric bill by 10% with my solar panels i add another 20% for about a 25% annual savings.

  2. All grid tied wind turbines are based on KWH produced not instant amps or watts.

  3. How does solar and wind power work?

Solar and wind energy for the home is one of the key figures in reducing energy cost. A home solar or wind power system can provide power to be used instead of grid power all the time. Also, these system can be used for emergency back up power when the grid fails. Even a stand alone system with a battery and solar panel makes many great ideas for powering lights, pool pumps, attic fans hot water, appliances, computers and many other devices. There are simply to many good reasons to use solar and wind power. You need to impliment these systems into your own home. They work and they are not extremely expensive any more because home solar and wind power is more common now then ever. The prices of solar and wind power to get installed has dropped dramaticly, just like when flat screen TV's were thousands to buy at first or the first cell phone. Buy using these systems you can reduce your energy needs, being self sufficiant, and securing your energy cost's by making it all yourself for many, many, years. This also adds value to your home and of course a cleaner enviorment. A solar power attic fan is another good example of using simple solar power. Why would you pay to run a fan or remove heat when the sun will run it for free. Same with outdoor lighting. Solar power lights are outdoing most if not all low voltage AC power lighting these days. They also can provide security when the grid goes down.
I have all of these system at my home and I can tell you first hand how well they work. Below is a general explination of the systems. if you need me to put more information into this blog please let me know.

A grid tie battery back up system is called a "Hybrid" system where the wind and or solar energy is put into the home main electrical panel where it is use bu the house power demands first. this allows less or no use of grid power at that time. With a Hybrid inverter system, the inverter allows the solar or wind to power your house loads first while also on a 24/7 365 days a year stand by for any power outage that might occur so you are never with out power. If the grid goes down the inverter takes power from a battery bank converting it to usable 120/240 vac house power. In conjunction with that if the sun is shinning or the wind is blowing they will keep charging the batteries for you to use even longer all without grid power.

Grid tie solar or wind systems do not use batteries and will shut down when the grid is off. They can only make usable power when the grid is on. The grid tie inverter uses "island protection which means no power is able to go to the main electrical panel or to the grid. It simply shuts off with no AC power. This feature is to protect utility line man when working on the grid to restore power, so your system can not back feed the grid. Both systems do work the same. The solar or wind power is converted from DC power to AC power. If your home or business is not needing all of the power from your renewable energy system it then goes back onto the grid for others to use. Most will get a pay back for selling the unwanted power back to the grid. This is called NET METERING. This will contribute to your R.O.I. as well as any state rebates and a Federal 30% tax credit which is good for all solar products not just a solar panel system.

  5. This is a smart blog. I mean it. You have so much knowledge about this issue, and so much passion. You also know how to make people rally behind it, obviously from the responses. מצבר לקרוואן
